OSSSC English – 100 MCQs (My Real Study Notes)

So, I started preparing English for OSSSC exams (RI, ARI, Amin, Forest Guard, ICDS, CGL)… and honestly, I thought this will be easy.

But when I solved MCQs, I realized — English is simple, but tricky 😅
Sometimes options look almost same, and I get confused.

Then I understood one thing:
English is not about speaking fluently… it’s about clarity in basics.

So here I’m sharing how I studied. Simple way, like explaining to a friend.

1. Grammar

This is the most important part.

When I first studied grammar, I tried to memorize rules. Didn’t work.

Then I changed my method — I focused on examples.

Important topics:

  • Tense
  • Articles (a, an, the)
  • Prepositions
  • Subject-Verb Agreement

My simple trick:

Instead of remembering rules, I check:

“Does this sentence sound correct?”

Example:

He go to school ❌
He goes to school ✔

One mistake I made:

I ignored small rules and lost easy marks.

2. Vocabulary

This is scoring, but needs regular practice.

What I do:

  • Learn 5–10 words daily
  • Revise old words

Types of questions:

  • Synonyms
  • Antonyms
  • One-word substitution

My trick:

Don’t just memorize meaning. Use word in a sentence.

Example:

“Happy” → I felt happy after solving questions.

This helps memory.

3. Comprehension

At first, I thought this is easy. But I got wrong answers.

Why?

Because I read too fast.

My new method:

  • Read passage slowly
  • Understand main idea
  • Then answer

My trick:

Don’t read line by line… read for meaning

Example:

If passage is about environment, focus on main message, not every detail.

4. Sentence Correction

This is very common in exams.

Example:

She don’t like tea ❌
She doesn’t like tea ✔

My trick:

Check:

  • Grammar
  • Verb form
  • Sentence flow

Tip:

Read sentence twice before answering.

How I Practice MCQs

But I forgot everything.

Now I do:

  1. Study topic
  2. Solve MCQs
  3. Check mistakes
  4. Revise

Now I feel more confident.

2. Synonym of Big:
Answer: Large

3. Antonym of Happy:
Answer: Sad

4. Fill in the blank:
She ___ playing.
Answer: is

5. Comprehension:
(Main idea question)

Mistakes I Made

1. Ignoring grammar

Thought it’s easy.

2. Not revising vocabulary

Forgot words quickly.

3. Reading fast

Got comprehension wrong.

One Small Insight

English is not difficult.

We just need clarity.

One Relatable Example

Sometimes I see two options and both look correct.

Then I read sentence slowly, and one sounds better.

That’s how I choose.

My Personal Tips

1. Practice daily

Even 20 MCQs help.

2. Focus on basics

Grammar is key.

3. Revise vocabulary

Very important.

4. Read slowly

Avoid mistakes.
